history of end of world story

mayan culture

So at least claim the Maya's, that ancient civilization that lived in the Mesoamerica's since 2,600 BC. The Maya's had an extremely complicated method of keeping track of time, based on three separate calendars. The most important, most encompassing of these calendars holds the `Long Count': the period from the beginning until the end of time. And on December 21st 2012, the Long Count expires. It will be point zero. Time will be up for the Universe. It will be, literally, the end of days.

Big deal, you might say. Still, there's a couple of very interesting (and disturbing) facts about the Maya calendar's end. Most intriguing, 21-12-2012 is not a day like any other. Up in the sky, an extraordinary and incredibly rare event will take place. The Sun will move to a unique spot in the sky -- and hold still for a while, since it is solstice day. The Sun will sit precisely on the heavenly crossroads between the Milky Way and the galactic equinox, forming a perfect alignment with the center of the galaxy.

Er..... what ??????

Golden Age to begin in 2012
Mayan Calendar Corroborates Hindu Prophecy Kali Yuga is one of the four developmental stages of the world as part of the cycle of eras. In the “Brahma-Vaivarta Purana”, Lord Krishna predicts by telling Ganga Devi that a Golden Age will come that will start 5,000 years after the beginning of the Kali Yuga, and will last for 10,000 years.
Mayan Calendar Matches Hindu Calendar
It is amazing that the Hindus and the Mayans have predicted the appearance of the new world at about the same time. There is a 12-year difference between the start of the Hindu’s Kali Yuga which began on 18 February 3102 B.C. and the Mayan’s Fifth Great Cycle which began in 3114 B.C. and will end on 21 December 2012.
Golden Age Could Begin in 2012
The ancient Hindus used both the lunar and solar calendars. If an average lunar year has 354.36 days, then this would be about 5270 lunar years from the start of Kali Yuga until 21 Dec 2012. This is the same year that the Mayans foretell the rebirth of our planet. It is also about 5113 solar years of 365.24 days per year, and is day number 1,867,817 into the Kali Yuga. Either way, we are over 5,000 years into the Kali Yuga and it is time for Lord Krishna’s prophecy to happen according to the ancient Hindu scriptures. Lord Krishna’s Golden Age could easily begin in 2012!
Mayan Prophecy Matches Hindu Prophecy
It seems incredible to know that the Hindus and the Mayans without any means of contact have congruent 2012 prediction. It is very astonishing to learn that their calendars predict the coming of the new world or golden age after about 5,000 years into their calendars. Attributes of Kali Yuga In relation to rulersRulers will transform into prejudicial and illogical leaders. They will impose taxes unfairly, threaten the world, won’t give attention to the spiritual well-being of the people and won’t bother to protect their citizenry anymore. People will start to look for other places to live where wheat and barley constitute the staple food. Greed and anger will rule as men will publicly express ill will towards one another. Ignorance of Dharma will take place. Lust and pre-meditated killings will be acceptable to the society. People will be convinced to believe in false sciences. Family murders will also exist. People will take advantage of the helpless and take out everything from them. Multiple undesirable changes will appear. Trust will no longer be valued as people will betray one another even couples and family members. They will harbor feelings of contempt in one another, while the young and the old will take advantage of each other’s weaknesses. The brave ones will be seen as cowards while the cowards will be regarded as the brave ones. In Kali Yuga, values will no longer be upheld because the society will exercise maximum tolerance for commission of sins. Even sexual intercourse will be treated as a necessity which will then cause sexual exploitation and pregnancy among pre-teenagers. People will no longer honor their words. There will be death and famine as people start to abuse the rights of others and exploit nature and the environment. Men and women will become lewd. People will become cruel to fellowmen and animals. Alcoholism and drug addiction will dominate people’s lives. Jobs will be very stressful that people will even seek places for relaxation and relief. There will be no more respect between teachers and students. The students will sarcastically question their teachings and followers of Karma will struggle to control the minds of the people. As the sin grows rapidly, human beings will succumb to the harsh circumstances manifesting divine justice and wrath.

But does the Bible say anything about 2012 being the end of human history?

In Matthew 24:3, Jesus was asked about the sign of His coming and the end of this age. He gave prophecies of many events to happen before His return. He said there would be religious deception, wars and rumors of wars, famines, disease epidemics and earthquakes, all leading to a time of Great Tribulation when mankind would be on the verge of destroying all life on the earth if the time wasn't cut short (verses 21 and 22). Then Jesus prophesied there would be heavenly signs, and He would return with power and great glory (verses 29-30). These prophetic events are described in more detail in our booklets Are We Living in the Time of the End? and You Can Understand Bible Prophecy. While Jesus gave His disciples signs to watch for that indicated His return, He stated clearly that no one knows the exact date except His Father. In Mark 13:32 we read, "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." Matthew's account puts it this way, "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming" (Matthew 25:13). The Bible does not tell us the date Jesus Christ will return to save humanity from destroying ourselves. But it does promise that Christ will return and set up a government that will bring peace and prosperity to this earth. In the meantime God doesn't ask us to explore the intricacies of ancient Mayan calendars. He warns of rampant deception and tells us not to be fooled by those who claim secret knowledge of His return (Matthew 24:4, 23-26). What are we to do? The purpose of the biblical prophecies and warning signs is to remind us of our need to always be growing closer to God and to be spiritually ready. We need to be preparing spiritually for Christ's return and the end of this world now, in 2012 and every year. "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect" (Matthew 24:44).
